I've seen a Lumix GX7 (MFT) with an Olympus 45mm f1.8 (so with crop about 90 millimeters) for around 150 bucks just recently, and I'd guess you could pull off magic with that even compared to another professional with their everyday gear! But you'd be to shy for something like that I guess.

I'd really wonder what you'd think about the Tamron 70-180 f2.8 in comparison, as it's even lighter than all of them and cheaper, though it possibly should have some trade-offs to consider.
